Arlene Sandra Heacock, age 83, passed away peacefully, entering heaven into the arms of her husband and daughter, on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

She is survived by her son, David A. Heacock of Oscoda. Grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Paquette of Vassar, Melissa Paquette of Caro, Jonathan Johnson of Alaska, Gwenda (Ian) Anderson of Texas and Miles Heacock of Oscoda. Arlene began her journey in Gilbert, Minnesota with her loving parents, Arthur and Irene (Bainter) Poola and younger brother, Jimmy. Arlene and her family made the move from Minnesota to Detroit, Michigan and after graduating from Thomas M. Cooley High School in 1956, she attended Shapero School of Nursing and received her LPN and then began working at Sinai Hospital in Detroit.

Arlene met her beloved husband of 56 years; Phillip “Bob” Heacock, they married November 13, 1957 and went on to have two children. Growing up, Arlene’s mom and dad owned a store. After many years of working in Detroit, Arlene and Bob decided they were ready to move from the hustle and bustle of the city and they made their way to Northern Michigan and purchased the Londo Lake Store in Hale in August of 1976.

Arlene was the heart of Londo Lake for many years, operating her store and building friendships for over 40 years. Arlene was a member of the Hale Eagles for more than 30 years and enjoyed setting up bus trips to the casinos while making sure everyone was having a good time. She was an avid Detroit Tiger’s fan and always knew whether they won or lost.

Arlene made many friends along her way, and some very special ones at that. She enjoyed being a part of so many lives, enjoyed watching the kids grow up around the lake and town and cherished time spent with her family and friends. Arlene would say to her friends and family “she had a good life”. When you think of her…smile and hold onto the memories and believe that the true meaning of life lies within the ones you love.

Arlene’s family would like to thank Careys Young at Heart Assisted Living in Caro, Michigan for the extraordinary care she received during her time there. The family is grateful for her friends of so many years, she loves you all.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; Arthur and Irene (Bainter) Poola, husband; Phillip "Bob" Heacock, daughter; Beth Lynne Paquette and many special friends.

Per her wishes, Arlene has been cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced and held at a future date.

We will surely miss your Mom. In fact, we missed her when she left Londo Lake for her care. She would always ask how our children were doing. She definitely cared for all who entered the store. We always admired her for her smiles and her service she provided at the store. So sorry for your loss.
