His family will welcome friends for visitation at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Bill's family will also welcome friends for visitation on Friday, January 18th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Trahan Funeral Home in Bay City.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Tawas City with Reverend Gabriel Martin officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday at church from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service.

Obituary Notice

William "Bill" Wesley Stange, of National City, formerly of Bay City, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 13, 2019, age 94 years. Bill was born on June 6, 1924 in Bay City to Wesley and Minnie Stange. After high school graduation, he went to work selling automobiles with Garber Buick and Draper Chevrolet in Bay City for over 45 years! He was credited as the oldest member of the Bay City Elks #88, and a former member with the Eagles and Moose lodges in Bay City. Bill was also an associate member of the Tawas Area Elks #2525 and enjoyed playing on the Elks golf league. Golfing was one of his favorite hobbies and he enjoyed many different leagues and courses in Michigan, and also in Florida, where he and his wife would reside during the winter months. Bill was active in his local hometown community of National City (Sand Lake). He belonged to the Sand Lake Men's Club, Sand Lake Seniors, and the Sand Lake Moped Club. Bill will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him! He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Stange of National City, to whom he married on August 7, 1986 in Bay City; his son, Brian (Martha) Stange of Ann Arbor; his ex-wife, Nancy VanPoppelen of Bay City; step-daughter, Deborah (Robert) Koons of Austin, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Dominic, Hailey, Ethan, Emily, Betsy, and Ben. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Minnie Stange.
