William E. Milliron, age 83, of Hale, MI, formerly of Benzonia, MI, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Tawas City Tendercare. He was born on March 15, 1934 in Copemish, MI to Fred & Helena (Bargerstock) Milliron. He received a Master’s Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. He served in the US Army. He taught special education & mathematics at Lake Orion, Benzie Central and Bear Lake prior to his retirement. He married Mary Jane Douglass who preceded him in death. He then married Sherrill Parkinson 24 years ago. Bill was a member of the Hale First United Methodist Church, Hale & Frankfort-Benzie Masonic Lodges. He was a past director of the Iosco County Commission on Aging and a member of the Elks Lodge. Bill loved to fish, hunt and travel. He also enjoyed caning, quilting, Swedish weaving, antiquing, and woodworking. Bill refereed football, volleyball, softball and baseball.

 

Bill is survived by his wife Sherrill of Hale; daughters, Kelly (Todd) Warnock of Camden, SC, Jennifer (Frank) Stephenson of Rome, GA, Kara Milliron of Ann Arbor, MI; stepsons, Mark Parkinson of Hale, and Ryan (Laura) Parkinson of Hale; grandchildren, Lauren (Trent) Henderson, William Warnock, William Stephenson, Britt Parkinson, Abigail Parkinson; great grandchildren, Jude Henderson and Everett Henderson; sister, Maxine Hansen of Bay City, MI brothers, Fred (Betty) Milliron, Jr. of Beulah, David (Sherrie) Milliron of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Jane; grandson, Robert Warnock and siblings, Jim Milliron, Phyllis Covert, Shirley Potter, Geraldine Halsema, Velma Patterson, and Diane Roth. Very fond memories of Bill and Mary when they were teachers at Bear Lake School and years following as friends. Bill even visited us a couple years ago, visited Sparkle in the Park and gave me a video of the Walk to Bethlehem program he was involved with.....He was certainly one of the "good guys"!
