Obituary Notice

Samuel Wyatt Brooks, of Turner, formerly of Grand Blanc Township, passed away peacefully at his home under the loving care of his family and hospice, age 75 years. Sam was born on September 18, 1943 in Flint to Robert and Madelyn (Dodd) Brooks Jr. He attended South Western High School, and then went on to work for 31 years at the Parts Division with General Motors Corporation. After Sam's retirement from GM, he drove semi with his son Brian for 3 years. Sam enjoyed driving the big rigs, and decided to continue driving expedited freight for a company, after the years of working with his son. During his well-deserved retirement, Sam found extreme enjoyment being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of the NRA, and the Arenac Eastern Sportsman’s Club. He was also a skilled wood worker and made many beautiful hand crafted keepsakes for his family. But above all, Sam absolutely adored and cherished his family; especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren! He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Sam is survived by his wife and best friend, Patricia Brooks, to whom he married on February 29, 1964 in Clio. Together they celebrated 55 beautiful years of marriage! Sam is also survived by his 3 children, Samuel (Lori) Brooks of Rankin, Michigan, Brian (Julie) Brooks of Swartz Creek, and Michael (Cathy) Brooks of AuGres, Michigan; 9 grandchildren, Nickolis (Krista), Jonathan, Casey (Stephanie), Zachary (Ally), Jessica, Robert, Joseph (Mariah), Chelsey (Matt), and Keileigh; 6 great grandchildren, Haylei, Aubree, EmmaMae, Parker, Joseph, and Amelia; 1 brother, Wayne (Linda) Brooks of Linden, Michigan; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Brooks Jr. and Madelyn McCormic. Sam's family will welcome friends for visitation on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Buresh Funeral Home in Twining. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Per his wishes, cremation will take place after the funeral.
