Obituary Notice

Age 69, passed peacefully at Lakeview Manor of Tawas City on Tuesday, August 20th, 2019. Russell was born in Flint MI on June 22, 1950 to Helen Marie and Russell Wayne Burton Sr. Russ attended and graduated from Davison High School. He then went on to work at GM for 30 years and retired at the age of 48. He came out of retirement to drive bus for the WB-RC school system for a few years. He enjoyed traveling, camping, playing games on his computer, gardening, hunting and fishing. Russ had a home in Flint and also enjoyed many weekends in the Lupton area where he eventually resided full time. Russ is survived by his son Michael (Kristy) Burton, grand children Joshua (Brooke) Burton, Zachary (Amber) Burton and great-grandchildren Tucker, Kylie, Evelynn, McKenzie. Stepson Roger (Cindy) Adams and family and stepdaughter Tina (Mark) Dewey and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, special friend and companion Starr Lloyd and stepdaughter Brenda Hawkins. The family would like to especially thank Lakeview Manor in Tawas and their staff and Compassus Hospice and the team that cared for Russ. Tammy, Angie, Sharon, Heather, Lindsey and Randy thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! Also we would like to thank NEMSCA of Ogemaw County especially Tina, Whitney and Lacey for all their help when we needed it in our home. Cremation has taken place. A memorial tentatively planned for November 2, 2019 and interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc. You may offer your condolences online at

I am truly sorry for the loss of a man I grew up knowing as my grandfather. I lived with him for a while as a child we went camping up north on cb clubs and fishing. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and close friends. May he rest in peace. I love you grandpa russ.
