Obituary Notice

Richard Keith Rose, Rick, of AuGres, Michigan passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved cat, Jasmine, on February 1, 2021. Rick was born July 25, 1948 in Omer, Michigan to his parents Richard Howard Rose and Naomi Barbara Staebler.
Rick spent his life enjoying the outdoors as an avid gardener, die hard fisherman, and Michigan sports fanatic. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in 1971 and truly bled green and white. Go Green!
Rick worked in manufacturing, engineering, construction, and sales. He viewed himself as a jack of all trades and master of none. Rick’s sense of humor defined him, and his loyalty to family, friends, and strangers will live on long after his death.
He strove to be a steward of all of Michigan’s natural beauty. He served to preserve hunting and fishing for generations to come.
Living simply, Rick found great riches in life. Rick was a loyal friend to many that he forged unbreakable bonds. Many of summers, he could be found in Canada fishing with his college best-friend, Richard “Rik” Doro. When people could not find him at home, Rick could likely be found at Helen & Rudy Eichstaedts’ home eating dinner or doing a crossword puzzle. Rick missed Rudy greatly after his passing but found an unwavering love and support from Helen who he thought of as a mother.
Rick is survived by his kitty daughter, Jasmine, cousin, Ronnie H. Humerickhouse or “cuz” as they called each other, his cousins, Kevin, Keith, Kurt and Kelly Humerickhouse, too many extended family members to list, and his god-daughter, Melonie L. Hayes. Rick is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, Randy, and his god-daughter, Melissa M. Doro.
Family will celebrate Rick’s life in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be sent to: The Estate of Rick Rose c/o Kurt Humerickhouse at 421 N. Main Street, Au Gres, MI 48703. All donations will be used to honor Rick at later date.

Rick was a great college friend. We shared many good times, “majoring” in pinochle while at MSU, cruising to Freeport GB, snowmobiling, and being a groomsman at my wedding. Rick was a happy, selfless, and unassuming person who never had a bad to say of anyone and truly would give you the shirt off his back. The world is a better place for having had Rick in it and he will be greatly missed. Peace be with you Rick. Go State! Greg

My sisters and I are Ricks first cousins. We had many great times with Rick and his brother Randy at our Grandmother’s house in Turner. Riding to the farm to “do chores” in the back of a pick up truck with them was such fun. So sorry to hear this sad news.

Rest In Peace cousin Rick. I remember many Thanksgivings at Aunt Naomi and Uncle Dicks. Rick always had a smile for everyone, and made us laugh...a kind soul.

I met Rick when I was a sophomore at Michigan State. We became best friends and ended up being room mates. He was an usher in my wedding and godfather to my older daughter. One of her favorite memories was when her "Uncle" Rick took her for a ride on his snowmobile. Over the years Rick became like a brother to me and we would try to talk on the phone each week. I will miss those calls each week and the chance to see him one more time. Rest in peace my friend you have definitely earned it!
— Richard Doro
