He also became quite active in the Tawas community through service organizations such as the American Red Cross and Sunrise Side Carvers. Ray was a devout Christian gentleman who was an active member with Zion Lutheran Church in Tawas City. Ray will be truly missed by all who had the opportunity to know and love him! He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Matheson, to whom he married on June 22, 1963; their three children, Mark (Patty) Matheson, Molly (Jim) Grundner, and Michael (Ginny) Matheson; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Ben, Ryan, Kelsey, Emily, Lily, and Sophia; his sister, Pat Gessner; one brother, Jim (Susan) Matheson; nieces, nephews, and many special friends. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ann Matheson.
