Obituary Notice

Patrick Eugene Charboneau, of Bay City, passed away Friday May 11, 2012 at the Iosco Medical Care Facility in Tawas City, age 84 years. Patrick was born on January 5, 1928 to Bernard and Whilimena (Jenson) Charboneau in Jackson, Michigan. He graduated from Gaylord High School and then enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served in the 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper from 1946 to 1949. After his honorable service in the military, Patrick attended Port Huron Junior College. He began his career as an Inhalation Therapist at Mercy Hospital in Bay City, where he worked from 1954 to 1969. From 1959 to 2003, Patrick owned and operated the Charboneau Fence Company. Those that knew him will remember Patrick as an avid fisherman and hunter. Patrick was a member of the Bay City chess club at the Wenonah Hotel for several years. In 1960, he was Champion of the Bay City Chess Tournament. In the 1950s he enjoyed oil painting and displayed and sold his work through Studio 23. Surviving are his three children, daughter, Renee Klein of Sanford, Michigan (Retired from Dow Corning), son, Jerry Charboneau of Bay City, Michigan (Charboneau Industries), and Duane Charboneau of Bay City, Michigan (Warner Trucking); 8 grandchildren, Jeff Karbowski, Sherry Karbowski, Tara Charboneau, Trisha Charboneau, Walter Charboneau, Angie Charboneau, Katrina Charboneau, and Ryan Charboneau. Patrick is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Whilimena Charboneau, and 7 siblings. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for Friday May 18, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City with military honors.
