Obituary Notice

Age 70, of Greenbush, MI, formerly of Genesee County, MI passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in Greenbush, MI. She was born on June 20, 1948 in Petoskey, MI to the late Chester and Arthella (Rought) Knowles. Mary married the love of her life, Charles C. McNiel on December 16, 1972. She took pride in raising her family and was an amazing wife, mom, aunt, sister, grandma and friend. Mary enjoyed reading, baking, watching Animal Planet, doing crossword puzzles and most importantly, spending time with her family. She loved all children and animals and was a “mom” to many over the years. Her family will miss her loving smile, welcoming embrace and her homemade bread and famous lasagna. Mary is survived by her husband, Charles C. McNiel; children, Cherie Lynn McNiel, Matthew John McNiel and Timothy Andrew (Shawn “Shawnee”) McNiel; sisters, Arlene Deaver, Della Chris Blanchard, Dorothy Knowles, Phyllis White and Virginia Little; brother, Charles Knowles; grandchildren, Therain McNiel, Andrew McNiel, Nicole Leost, Gabriel McNiel, Hannah McNiel and Jebediah McNiel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hank, John, Irvin, and Joe Knowles. A memorial service will be held in the summer and will be announced at a later date.
