Obituary Notice

Mary A. Boyd, age 63, of Oscoda passed peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019. Mary was a former resident of Kenockee Twp., Sterling Heights, Livonia and Huntington Woods. She was born May 31, 1956 to the late Eugene and Aline Merlihan (nee DuCharme). Mary worked for over 35 years in the dental and orthodontic profession. She loved her work and had a profound impact and influence on those around her genuine enthusiasm, willingness to learn and sharing her knowledge with co-workers and individuals interested in the profession. Mary had a zest of life that included a beautiful smile and a loving and caring personality. She was an early riser and an avid birder, receiving the nickname "Early Bird Mary". She loved to garden, sew and hunt for stones. She loved hiking, snow shoeing, photography, going to the beach and probably most of all, floating and kayaking down the AuSable River. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Larry; her son, Sean T. Martin; siblings; John, Gail, Gary, Patrick, Kevin, Brian, Carol, Colleen, Mark and Lorraine; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother Frank. A celebration of her life will be planned for spring/summer 2020. Condolences

Mary had a little lamb her name was Amber Tuggle and everywhere that Mary went that little girl was sure to follow! Mary has a profound impact on our daughter’s future and career path in dentistry. She pointed out her cross bite and urged us to seek professional consultation EARLY to address it and we appreciated her insistence an genuine concern. Our daughter now has a beautiful smile and a career in dentistry thanks to budding influence she had on a little girl (granddaughter of a neighbor). I got to FLOAT with Mary on Lake Huron and we have fond memories of her smile, laughter and expressions “shut the front door!” Our family will miss her presence and cherish memories of bonfire talks late at night!

Dear sweet baby sister Mary;
I miss you already, I wish I could have spent more time with you in recent years.
I loved you when we were children, enjoyed playing cards and board games with you, because you always had to win, you are very competitive and I like that about you. And I've enjoyed watching you grow into the beautiful woman that you've become.
I Will Remember You in a very special way the rest of my days. Cheers to you little sister. Smile down on me every once in awhile.
God bless you Mary, may you rest in peace forever. Love big brother Kevin.
