Marjorie “Marge” Klein

Age 88, of Oscoda, MI passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Tawas Village in East Tawas, MI. She was born on April 15, 1932 in Flint, MI to the late Kenneth and Mary Hemstreet (nee Patson). Marge graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1950. She married her high school sweetheart LaVern (Vern) Klein on November 8, 1952 by Monsignor Henry Mayotte at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Flint, MI. Marge started working during high school as a first page girl at Hurley Hospital. Immediately after graduation she advanced to the Admitting Office. Later she worked at the Flint City Loan Co. as a bookkeeper and Buick Motor in the Personal Office. She and Vern moved to Oscoda in 1961 and she worked as a teacher’s aide at Richardson Jr. High before accepting a position as the Deputy Oscoda Township Clerk and later as the Clerk until she retired in 1988 after 16 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society and she chaired the Diocesan Development Fund Drive for the Gaylord Diocese at Sacred Heart. Above all, Marge had a love for her family, god and country. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Klein of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; three grandchildren, Joshua, Christopher, McKenzie; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her husband Vern Klein, son David Klein, daughter Sharron Klein and her brother Kenneth Hemstreet. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 – 11:00 am (instate at 10:00 am) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda, MI. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
