Obituary Notice

Leon Aurthur Farver, Sr., of East Tawas, passed away on Wednesday July 21, 2010 at the Saginaw St. Mary’s Medical Center, age 74. Leon was born on May 30, 1936 in Elkton, Michigan to Earl Edward and Gertrude Marie (nee Perry) Farver. Leon was raised in the town of Filion, Michigan, where he was one of 11 children in his family. He worked for many years as a roofer in the Tawas area and nearby communities. He had many interests in life, however Leon truly loved spending time at his hunting camp in Lincoln, Michigan. He will also be remembered for his paintings, and his enjoyment for long rides in the car. On March 12, 1960, Leon married his beloved wife, Agnes Lucille (nee Forbing) in Wyandotte, Michigan. Together they celebrated 50 years of a beautiful marriage with each other. Leon is survived by his wife, Agnes, and their 4 children, Della (Kenneth) Mitchell of East Tawas, Rebecca (Homer) Stitzer of East Tawas, Leon, Jr. (Gina) Farver of East Tawas, and Russell (Jennifer) Farver in Northport, Florida; 18 grandchildren, Kenneth Jr., Stephanie, Keith, Kevin, Leon III, Marisa, Glenn Jr., Samantha, Erica, Burnetta, Hannah, Nicholas, Gabriel, Alixandria, Christopher, Benjamin, Paige, and Danielle; 12 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Dale (Johanna) Farver of Filion, Michigan, 1 sister, Cleo VanCise of Filion, Michigan, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Leon is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic with Father James Brucksch officiating. His family will receive friends on Friday at the Buresh and Kobs Funeral Home in Tawas City from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and also at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral. Per his wishes, cremation will follow the funeral mass. An on-line guest registry is available at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Buresh and Kobs Funeral Home in Tawas City.


There will be an interment of cremated remains in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in East Tawas at a later date.
