Obituary Notice

Lela Blanch Colvin, age 75, of Whittemore, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Saginaw. She was born on March 1, 1943 in National City, MI to Perry & Lettie (Lambert) Nickell. She was a homemaker. She liked to cook, read, do puzzles of all kinds, & visit with her grandkids.

Blanch is survived by her husband, John of Whittemore; children, Karen (Lynn) O’Connor of Hale, Glenn Abernathy of Whittemore, Sheryl Bennett of Oscoda; step-children, Jeff Colvin of Turner, Kevin Colvin of Whittemore, Cheryl (Les) Mellen of Tawas City; grandchildren, Sheena Dickinson of Oscoda, Robert Nichols of CA, Lily O’Connor of Jackson; step-grandchildren, Matthew (Kendra) Colvin of West Branch, Michael Colvin of ND, Courtney Colvin of Tawas City; great grandchildren, Parker, Walden, Cecelia, Annabella & Zander; sister, Jeanette Lichotta of Whittemore; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Nickell of Whittemore & Whilhelmina Nickell of Twining; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Abernathy; sisters, Diane Haynal, Doris Smith; brothers, Elmer, Lawrence, Norman, Leonard, James, & Delbert Nickell.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 1-3 pm at the Good News Ministries Lutheran Church in Whittemore. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
