Obituary Notice

Kaye (Shearer) Leisher, 82, Oscoda Michigan, left us to be with her Lord on April 24, 2018.
Kaye was born May 18, 1935 in Pinconning, Michigan to Lunson and Marguerite (Cooper) Shearer. She married James M Leisher on August 20, 1955. Kaye had one child, Michael, born May 17, 1956. Mike and his wife Linda ((Cassiday) formerly of Oscoda) currently reside in Titusville, PA.
Kaye also known as GG Kaye, enjoyed 4 grandchildren, Deana (Davis), Heather (Coffin), Christopher Leisher, and Josiah Leisher. She was blessed with 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Maxine Carruthers, and an infant brother Bruce.
Kaye was a graduate of Michigan State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1965. She taught in the Oscoda public school system from 1967 until retiring in 1993.
Kaye and her husband Jim and son Michael moved to Oscoda in 1967, having resided in Hastings, Marshall, Kalamazoo and Charlotte, Michigan.
Kaye was the runner up in the 1954 Miss Michigan pageant. She and her husband Jim were charter members of the Tawas Area Presbyterian Church, where they faithfully attended until her passing. She was a member of the Oscoda Beautification Committee, and was an avid gardener, especially with the help of her dear friend Linda Hennigar.

Inurnment will be at the Tawas Area Presbyterian Church Columbarium, and a memorial service will be held June 2, 2018 at 11am with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Tawas Area Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden Fund and can be sent to 2095 E US 23, East Tawas, MI 48730.

Our hearts are very saddened by the passing of our dear friend Kaye. Our deepest sympathy to you, Mike and Linda. She loved you all so much, especially her grandchildren. Our church garden lost a beautiful flower that can never be replaced. RIP dear friend.
