Obituary Notice

John B. Koenig, a 48-year resident of Oscoda, Michigan died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at St Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.  John was born in Bedford, Indiana on May 16, 1928 to Nick and Nell Koenig.  The family moved to the Detroit area when he was a young boy.  He attended the Highland Park School System and, after graduating, John served in the United States Marine Corps at the end of WWII.  John was married to the late Joyce Koenig and they had five children: John (Nancy) Koenig of AuGres, Michigan, David (Leslie) Koenig of Cadillac, Michigan, Robert (Rose) Koenig of Mikado, Michigan, Patti VanAgtmael of Spokane, Washington, and Kevin (Sara) Koenig of Grand Forks, Minnesota. John had 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.  John was an Oscoda Police Officer and later a deputy with the Iosco County Sheriff’s Department.  He finished his career as a security officer with the University of Michigan Hospital.  John enjoyed fishing, but especially looked forward to deer hunting season every year.  John was loved and will be missed by his family and friend.  Per the family request, no services are planned.  You may offer your condolences online at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com

JOHN AND I WORKED TOGETHER AT THE U OF M MEDICAL CENTER. HE HAD A FUN SENSE OF HUMOR, IT WAS FULL OF STORIES FROM HIS DAYS AS A DEPUTY SHERIFF. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ME, MANY CO-WORKERS, AND ALL THE HOSPITAL STAFF THAT GOT TO KNOW HIM!
