Obituary Notice

Jerry L. Barnes, age 77, of Whittemore, MI, passed away at his home on Monday, March 19, 2018. He was born on December 6, 1940 in Taylor, MI to Joseph & Hilda (Bueschen) Barnes. He was an excavator prior to his retirement and was the sextant for the Reno Township Cemetery for many years. He married Alice Denio on October 15, 1992. Jerry was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hale. He loved hunting, bowling and racing cars, snow mobiles & Motorcycles.

Jerry is survived by his wife Alice of Whittemore; sons, Rick (Carol) Barnes of Hale, Gary (Kim) Barnes of Whittemore; daughters, Tina (Brian ) Rider of St. Augustine, FL, Carrie (Don) Shafer of East Tawas; stepdaughters, Karen (Tom Pirgle) Schulte of Webberville, Patti Swyers of LA, Sandy Schmidt of Clarkston; stepson, Clinton Kennedy of Hale; 22 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; brother, Eilert (Betty) Barnes of Whittemore; sister, Ruth (Jim) Clements of Whittemore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Deadra.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hale with Pastor Dean Muhle officiating. Online condolences may be made to the family at
