According to James's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Twining Baptist Church, 410 West Main Street, Twining, Michigan with military honors. Pastor David Evans will officiate. James's family will greet friends and neighbors at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the ceremony at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Obituary Notice

James Roy (Jimmy) Stewart, age 92, of Omer, Michigan, formerly of Au Gres, Michigan passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 25, 2020 under the loving care of his family and hospice at home.

Jimmy was born April 27, 1927 in Catlettsburg, Kentucky to the late Grover Cleveland and Virgie Mae (Coffee) Stewart. He enlisted in the United States Navy when he was 17 and proudly served during World War II. Upon discharge, he met and married the love of his life, Revia Marie Abshire on April 26, 1947 in Kentucky. Together they had six children, Carol, James, David, Thomas, Daniel and Susan. Jimmy was a skilled mechanic and truck driver for many years. He retired once but went back to work again hauling boats and retired for good in 1989. He was a devout Christian and loved his family with his entire heart. He also had a love for music and he enjoyed playing the steel guitar in a band, singing in church and at home, and spending time with family and friends. Jimmy was a member of Twining Baptist Church, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion.

Jimmy is survived by what he termed his "Birthday Present" of 72 wonderful years, Revia; children, Carol Stewart, Tom Stewart (Kim), Dan Stewart (Tammy Idalski), and Susan Farah (Sam); Daughter-in-law Pam Stewart (David); grandchildren, Jim Thomas (Laurie), Leian Thomas Eberly (Curt Mushlock), Bobby Thomas, Catherynn Thomas Spierling (Kevin), Kevin Stewart (Nikki), Jenifer Walton (Don), Sunnie Stewart, Dan Stewart (Jordan), Melissa Short (Harold), Jenna Farah-Fimbres (Andy); many great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Josephine Banfield and Ann Hulett; numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by sons, James Marshall Stewart and David Michael Stewart.
