Jack E. Cuny,
Age 74, of East Tawas, MI died on Monday, April 30, 2012 in Clearwater, FL. He was born in Novi, MI on February 3, 1938 to the late Eugene and Martha Cuny (nee Butler). Jack graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1957 where he played football, played in the band and sang in the choir. He was employed Schaaf Lumber prior to beginning his long career at Tawas Plating. Jack worked for nearly 40 years before retiring in the late 1990’s as a supervisor. He was a member of the East Tawas Assembly of God Church, Tawas Moose Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Jack truly enjoyed life and spending time outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler and boater in addition to being a master gardener. Jack also raised pheasants and canned vegetables from his gardens. Jack took great pride in his wonderful collection of Elvis memorabilia. He especially enjoyed hosting the ETAG men’s hobo cookouts. Jack is survived by his wife Eileen, who he married on January 21, 2011 in Clearwater, FL, children; Kathy (Terry), Nancy (Dennis), Jackie (John), Charles (Tammy) and their devoted mother Doris (George) Hanstein, son Randy (Amanda), step children; Robin (Ray), Angela (Gary), Rick (Tonya), John (Kristi), stepmother Allie Cuny, sisters; Patricia (Bud), Joyce (Ken), brothers; Wayne (Cindy), Charles (Marti), 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his loving Schnauzer Heidi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, brother Jerry Cuny and his foster parents Charles and Arvilla Fairfield. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 – 11 am at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City, MI. Rev. James Westheim will officiate and interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Tawas City, MI. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Jack’s final act of kindness was giving the gift of sight by being a cornea donor upon his death.
