Obituary Notice

Helen "Jane" Rajda, age 73, of Au Gres, Michigan originally from Detroit, Michigan, passed away Tuesday evening, January 28th, 2020, at Medilodge of Tawas City, Michigan, with family by her side.

Jane was born November 6th, 1946, to the late James and Sarah (McCaffery) McKean. She graduated high school and then attended Wayne State University, receiving her Associate's Degree in computer (science) programming. She married Robert V. Rajda on July 3, 1971, together they celebrated 48 wonderful years of marriage. Jane started her early career working at Blue Cross in Detroit Mi in computer programing and continued to various companies, then leaving to work at O&S manufacturing doing computer programing, data processing, payroll, and many other tasks to manage the company. Jane continued to excel in her field of computer programing and technical support. Later she moved her family from Brighton MI to East Tawas, where she and her husband bought Northland Beach Cottages in East Tawas. Jane worked not only as a full-time mother but owner, manager, and operator of the business, while also teaching catechism at St. Joseph’s in East Tawas, MI. After Moving from East Tawas to Au Gres, MI, Jane continued to work but changing her career to a Licensed Realtor in the Iosco-Arenac Counties selling both commercial and residential properties.

Jane enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time on the water at their Au Gres home, and in the early years, dog sledding where she ran a six dog-sled team. She was one of the original founding members of the Tawas Area Hockey Association in the early 1990s, an active member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Au Gres, MI who spent her time volunteering, ushering and helping in many activities, and an active participant in the Au Gres Christian Charities Food Bank.
Jane is survived by her loving husband, Robert; children, Linda (Tom) Zawol, Robert “Bobby” Rajda, Christopher (Trisha) Rajda and Michael (Air) Rajda; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret "Peggy" Strusinski; and brother James “Jimmy Joe” Mckean, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by daughter, Shannon Victoria Rajda, and sister, Suzanne Brooks.

Visitation for Jane will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2020 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 415 South Court Street, Au Gres, Michigan. Funeral mass will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Gerald Balwinski officiating. According to her wishes, cremation will follow. She will be laid to rest in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date.
