Obituary Notice

Giles Cleo Hofacer, Jr., of Frankenmuth, East Tawas, and Oscoda, passed away on Saturday August 7, 2010 at his home in Frankenmuth, age 55. Giles Jr. was born on September 23, 1954 in Goodrich, Michigan to Lola Mae (nee Hempton) and Giles Cleo Hofacer, Sr. He was a graduate of Tawas Area High School, class of 1972. Giles Jr. was a former employee of Tawas Tool, and he also was a Finish Carpenter. He more recently had worked in the furniture sales business for Oscar Rau’s in Frankenmuth. Giles had many interests in life, however he will be remembered greatly for being an amazing musician. He was a talented drummer who passionately loved music, and he played with various bands in the area for many years. Giles Jr. also found enjoyment in gardening and fishing, both in the summer and winter months. Giles Jr. is survived by his parents, Giles C. Sr. and Lola Mae Hofacer of East Tawas, his Guardian Angel, Lee Ann Haught, of Frankenmuth, his loving children, Giles C. Hofacer III of Miami, Florida, Tamara Webber of Miami, Florida, Shannon Hofacer of East Tawas, Keegan Hofacer of Oscoda, and Lilah Haught of Frankenmuth; 3 grandchildren, Shay Lynn, Raylee, and Nevaeh; brothers and sisters, Keith (Jan) Robinson of Glendive, Montana, Kris (Sereina) Hofacer of Oscoda, Hugh (Wanda) Hofacer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Rene Hofacer of East Tawas, and Robina (Phil) Olson of East Tawas; 8 nieces and nephews, Joe, Jason, Kristin, Zaynah, Rylon, Miles, Kari, and Kyle; many cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends. Giles Jr. is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herman and Clara Hofacer, and his maternal grandparents, George and Lula Hempton. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday August 11, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Buresh and Kobs Funeral Home in Tawas City with Reverend Kenneth Tousley officiating. The family will welcome friends and family for visitation on Tuesday from 12:00 to 9:00 PM and also on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Cremation will take place after the funeral service. Due to a family illness, the family will be having a memorial dinner at a later time and date, which will be announced.
