Obituary Notice
Gerald "Gerry" Lee Jordan, of Turner, passed away at his home under the loving care of his family and hospice on Friday, March 5, 2021, age 84 years. Gerry was born to the late John and Phyllis (Ulman) Jordan in Sherman Township on March 22, 1936. He graduated high school with the class of 1955 and furthered his education at a community college and graduated with an accounting degree. He was employed for 2 years at the National Gypsum Loading Dock, then Gerry went on to work for the D&M Railroad as an accountant for 24 years. Gerry had a passion for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, and simply just enjoying scouting nature. He will be remembered as a master food plotter and how he truly made the best pickles and sauerkraut around! Gerry also enjoyed operating his tractor, riding 4 wheelers, riding snowmobiles, and watching trains. He was a sports enthusiast and a huge fan of Detroit sports! Gerry was one of the original instrumental members who were responsible for organizing the Pony and Little Leagues for baseball in Iosco County. His love of baseball continued as he coached at various levels in the league. He was a long time member of the East Tawas Knights of Columbus #2709 3rd degree, and willingly gave countless hours over the years on council projects. Above all, Gerry absolutely adored and cherished his grandchildren and he just loved to follow them around and watch them in their life journeys. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Gerry is survived by his wife and best friend, Joan (Anschuetz) Jordan, to whom he married on October 1, 1960. Together Gerry and Joan have celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage! Gerry is also survived by his children, Randy (Kari) Jordan, John (Bonnie) Jordan, and Kenny (Mary) Jordan; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, JoAnn (Don) Hester, Larry Jordan, and Marilee (Bill) Cholger; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Gerry is preceded in death by his parents, John and Phyllis Jordan; 2 siblings, Lyle Jordan and Illa Mae Look; and a granddaughter, Kassidee Jordan. A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. Gerry's family will welcome friends at the church for a time of visitation on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of mass.
