Obituary Notice

George J. Wilber, of Oscoda, formerly of St. Charles, passed away peacefully at Iosco County Medical Care Facility on Sunday, October 21, 2018, age 83 years. George was born on March 21, 1935 to George L. and Louise J. (Lea) Wilber. He married his wife Janice (McLaughlin) on October 1, 1955 in Saginaw and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage! George worked for many years on the Saginaw Township Police Department. After his time with the police force, he became employed by General Motors and worked in Plant Security, where he eventually retired from. He is credited with being a charter member of the Carrollton Fire Department, and also served several years with the Saginaw Township Fire Department. George was a very skilled and talented wood carver and truly had a passion for being in the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice A. Wilber of Oscoda; 2 children, son Lonnie J. Wilber of Oscoda, and daughter Robin S. Taylor of Hemlock; 2 grandchildren, Michael Taylor (Alyssa Burchfield) of Saginaw, and Matthew Taylor of Bay City; 2 great grandchildren, Damien and Lyric Taylor; 1 sister, Debra (Dennis) Murphy; 3 brothers in law, several nieces, nephews, and many special friends. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. An online guest registry is available at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
