Obituary Notice

Fred Glenn Minx, age 69, of Hines, Illinois, formerly of Tawas City, Michigan and St. Clair Shores, Michigan passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Edward Hines, Jr., Veteran Administration Facility in Hines, Illinois.

Fred was born October 17, 1950 to the late Frederick R. and Edna M. (Koss) Minx.  He was a graduate of Lakeshore High School Class of 1969.  After graduating, Fred enlisted in the United States NAVY serving from August 13, 1969 aboard USS Franklin D. Roosevelt until his honorable discharge July 25, 1971.  Fred was self employed in steam cleaning and power washing until a diving accident in 1982.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports.  Fred was well liked by classmates and friends he'd made at Lakeview Manor in Tawas City, Michigan and the Veteran Administration in Hines, Illinois.

Fred is survived by his siblings, Martin E. Minx, Barbara A. Taylor, and Janet E. Minx-Yeadon; nephews; Chris and David Taylor, Daryl Minx, Steven Yeadon; great nieces and nephews; last of the nine aunts and uncles, Robert and Ruth Miller; and several cousins and his caring staff at Lakeview Manor in Tawas City as well as the staff at Hines VA Spinal Cord Residential Center in Hines, Illinois where he has resided the past few years.  In addition to his parents, Frederick R. and Edna M. (Koss) Minx, Fred was preceded in death by God parents, Glenn and Evelyn Ramsey.

According to Fred's wishes, cremation has taken place.  He will be laid to rest in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. with military honors.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Hines VA Spinal Cord Residential Center, 5000 South 5th Avenue, Hines, Illinois 60141 in memory of Fred.  Online condolences may be offered at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com
