Obituary Notice

Elmer M. Prieur, age 85 of Hale, passed away on March 25, 2021 at his daughter’s home, under the care of Compassus Hospice and with his family by his side.

He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (David) Willard, Robert (Patricia) Prieur and Dennis (Sheila) Prieur. Grandchildren, Timothy, Michael, Melissa, Brandon, James and Samantha. Great-Grandchildren, Trinity, Abigayle, Ophelia, Signy, Colton, Alexis, Logan, Breanna, Angel, Blake and Charlotte. Siblings, Eleanor Heinz, Carol Stewart and Bruce Prieur. Sisters-in-law, Sue Williamson and Ruth Harbison. Brother-in-law, Leonard Johnson. Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. Son, James. Siblings, Beverly Scarsella, Lloyd Prieur and Roger Prieur. Brothers-in-law, Joe Scarsella, John “Jack” Johnson and Herman Michlings. Sisters-in-law, Norma Prieur and Harriet Johnson.

Elmer Melvin Prieur was born on December 1, 1935 in Windsor, Ontario Canada to the late Clifford and Marie (Drouillard) Prieur. He retired from J & L Steel Mill in Warren, Michigan after over 28 years of employment. Elmer was a self-taught builder of homes, he enjoyed working on cars and had a passion for helping people.

The family will receive guests from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the Buresh Funeral Home (121 S. Washington Street, Hale, Michigan 48739). Funeral at 2:00 PM Tuesday with Pastor Keith Reinhardt officiating with cremation to follow.
