Obituary Notice

Elisa Ellen Swartz, beloved wife and mother, passed away unexpectedly Thursday September 26, 2019 at her home after battling cancer for the last five years.
Elisa was born February 28, 1961 in Bay City, Michigan to John L. and Georgia (nee Whitehouse) Furst. She graduated from Whittemore-Prescott High School in 1980. On June 27, 1991 she married her husband Dean. Elisa was employed by three hospitals in Tawas, West Branch and Riverdale, Georgia. Patients and employees loved her. She enjoyed reading, movies and watching the antics of her cats Patches and Chelsea. She was a super shopper at garage sales and thrift stores. After she developed cancer, she found joy volunteering at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital where she began her career.
Elisa is survived by her loving husband, Dean: daughter, Brittany and friend Moses; mother, Georgia Strutz; sisters, Wendy Furst and Margo Furst; brother, John Furst; stepsister, Pam Zanoni; stepbrother,
Chuck McKinley; brothers-in-law, Ken (Sue) Swartz, Lyle (Fern) Swartz; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann (Tim) Welty, and numerous nieces, nephews. She kept in touch with many friends including a group of close co-worker friends and more recently a very close co-worker and friend Norma. She was preceded in death by her father John L. Furst; stepfathers, Ernie Strutz and Larry McKinley.
In the face of disheartening news from the medical community she maintained her faith and a very upbeat approach to life. This was often expressed by thinking of others. Her trademark was a small gift of kindness passed along to you with a loving heart behind it.
According to Elisa’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Whitney Township Hall, 1515 North Huron Road, Tawas City, Michigan 48763. She will be laid to rest in Sims-Whitney Township Cemetery near AuGres, Michigan.
