Edward James Barkley
Age 48 of National City, Michigan former resident of Alcona County died at his home under the loving care of his family and hospice on Sunday, August 19, 2012. Ed was born the son of Robert James and Carolyn (Northway) Barkley on November 20, 1963 in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. He graduated from Alcona High School in 1982 and received his Associate’s Degree from Alpena Community College. Ed worked as a mechanic for Carron Company for Ford Motor Company in Detroit and later owned and operated his own business E & J Homes in Lincoln, Michigan. He enjoyed spending time with his buddy Gizmo, and hunting but his passion was racing in Bump and Runs with some of his closest friends. He is survived by his adored children Nicholas (Amber) Barkley, Anthony (Casie) Barkley, Ashley (Andrew) Poirier and Amanda Lynn Barkley. His beloved father Robert James Barkley and his loving brothers and sisters Robert (Joy) Barkley, Matthew (Carrie) Barkley and Gary (Sheila) McClure, Kathleen (Greg) Dee, Betty (Tim) Barrons and Debbie (Tony) Arcicovich, and three beautiful grandchildren Caleb, Alex and Aiden and several nieces and nephews. His special friend and mother of his children Julie Barkley. Ed will truly be missed and remembered by all the lives he touched in his life. He is preceded in death by his mom and grandparents. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Buresh Funeral Home with interment at the Pioneer Cemetery in Grant Township, Michigan. I am so sorry that I lost my brother, and what had become my best friend. I will miss you forever and love you so much. I am glad that the pain is no longer something you have to deal with. I will always cherish the time we spent as you were getting sicker and sicker. I have absolutely no regrets. Love you Ed
