Obituary Notice

Carolyn E. Semenick, 77, of Tawas City, Michigan passed away peacefully Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in Tawas City, Michigan with family by her side.

Carolyn was born August 14, 1941 in Buffalo, New York to the late Charles and Jesse (Adams) Wilken. She married Francis Semenick on June 22, 1963 in Buffalo, New York and together they shared 55 years of marriage. Carolyn graduated from Buffalo State Teachers College in 1963 and taught Home Economics in Niagara Falls from 1963-1965. She and Fran enjoyed many trips traveling together visiting 49 states but also a world traveler over the last 20 years. Carolyn was active in the Frankenmuth Women’s Club planting and maintaining flowers throughout the city. She eventually became a “Master Gardener”, was a member of the Au Gres Garden Club where she served as both secretary and editor of the newsletter. Carolyn was active in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Au Gres, Michigan, a current member of Au Gres United Methodist Church, and belonged to the Whitney Township Ladies Auxilary and served as treasurer.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Fran; sons, Keith (Debra) Semenick of Au Gres, Michigan, Scott (Barb) Semenick of Vassar, Michigan; step grandchildren, Amanda (Charles) Woods, Jessica Rhodes, Justin Taylor; great grandson, Ancil Lee Rhodes; and five nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles, Grace and George.

I was on the Nothwest Lower Michigan synod women’s board (ELCA) with Carolyn for several years & we had many good times together, especially riding back & forth to meetings mostly in Muskegon. I always enjoyed our time together and want to extend my sincere sympathy to all of Carolyn’s family. God be with you.
