Our condolences to the Michalski family. Carl was a great friend that I have known since my early teenage years at Orchard Lake St. Mary, and then he later met my wife Barbara. I can't even imagine what my life would have been without meeting Carl whom I feel left some good in my soul. He was the kind of guy that once he befriended you, there was no question he had your back. We've always known him as a proud father, and it was evident by the way he helped raise his children Brett & Jodi who turned out to be superior adults. As a Grandfather his love was also unmatched. Of course the center of his life was Sharon, those two were inseparable in daily life. Barbara & I will miss him immensely.
Rest in peace my friend.
— Ronald S Lefchick
Carl a man who loved and served his family, his country and those he touched with joy and sorrow there are no words to express the loss. Yet in faith we know he has come home for there in Gods kingdom is the love, peace and eternal celebration. It is my prayer for Carl and those he loved will by the end of the day know we are all still loved by our heavenly Father who awaits for us all to join in that celebration with Carl.

So sorry for the loss you’re all going through. Carl and I went to grade school together at St. Bartholomew and had a childhood crush on each other. I’m so glad Carl reached out a few years ago and found me. We spoke on the phone, sent many texts and even had lunch to catch up. He so loved his wife, Sharon, his children, grandchildren and his cats! I will miss hearing how much he enjoyed his life and travels during retirement. Till we all meet again one day, God bless you and all your family and friends.

Sharon, Brett, Jodi,

Kathy and I are so sorry to hear of Carl's passing and words to express our sadness are not enough. I had the good fortune to work with Carl for (28) years as union officials, police officers, command officers, and our friendship grew over these many years. Carl was man of principle, tremendous love for his family, an unbelievable commitment to our country, his community, and public safety. Our work took us to many scenes that can only be described as horrendous, yet, at these times Carl was his best, always looking out for the men and women working, offering a kind word when in need, a smile, and encouragement, that lifted the spirits of us all. As my good friend Tim Carnaghi put so well, I look forward to that day when "we stand roll call together" and then maybe - have a shot and a beer. God bless you and your family, Rick and Kathy Fenton
— Richard Fenton

I was the coach of the Orchard Lake St. Mary's track team and Carl the captain of the team that won the 1966 Catholic League Second Division championship. He was a true leader by example and word. I was just a rookie coach but his inspiring leadership was the best kind of coaching of all. Thank you, Carl, for your service. May God grant you eternal peace.
— Don Horkey
I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love. May God grant peace and comfort for all -

I grew up with Carl. We were neighbors. He was my first friend, my family moved from Detroit in 1957. I met up with Carl on day in 1973 at a restaurant on vernier street in Detroit. But we lost connection with one another. I just Googled his name today and found this obituary. I am sadden by this. I wish I would've known sooner I would have paid my respects to a good friend and fine officer. RIP my friend, may we meet again someday
