Obituary Notice

Brian J. Runyan, age 63, a lifelong resident of Hale, Michigan passed away on June 11, 2019 at his home. He was born on April 13, 1956 in West Branch, Michigan to Basil & Helen (Robinson) Runyan. Brian graduated from Hale High School in 1974. He entered the US Army and served in Colorado, California, and South Korea. Brian worked at Bay City Milling Company, Alward’s Market and Kocher’s Market prior to his retirement. He enjoyed going for walks, college basketball and was a lover of nature and animals of all kinds. Brian was seldom seen in any photograph without an animal in his arms.

He is survived by his brother, Richard (Suzanne) Runyan of Hale; sister, Peg Runyan of West Branch, nieces, Carman (Chris) Jensen, Belinda (Mike) Mohr, Sarah (Joaquin Ponce) Runyan; nephew, Eddie Runyan; great niece, Katlyn Mohr and great nephews, Devin Mohr and Chase Jensen. Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Helen Runyan.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 12 Noon at the Hale Chapel of the Buresh Funeral Home, 121 S. Washington, Hale, MI. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10 to 12 noon. To honor Brian’s love of animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Association of Rescue Kritters, 3878 South Maple Valley Road, St. Helen, MI 48656.
