Arnold G. Verwoert
Age 92 of East Tawas, Michigan, former resident of Whittemore died on November 2, 2010 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Tawas City, Michigan. He was born the son of Leonard and Mary (Nee Welling) on March 21, 1918 in Grand Haven, Michigan. Arnold graduated from Grand Haven High School and continued his college education and received his Bachelor Degree from Western Michigan University in 1967. He taught at the Whittemore Elementary School and taught Special Education at the Whittemore High School and later retired from teaching in Georgia in 1981. Arnold was a member of the Pentecostal Lighthouse Church in Oscoda, Michigan. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (neeDexter) whom he married on December 10, 1991 in Angola, Indiana; his children Ruth Bosworth, Julie Hartman and Dan Verwoert; six grandchildren Heather Verwoert, Dan Verwoert, Jr., David Verwoert, Matthew Hartman, Michael Hartman, and Melissa Walta, 10 great - grandchildren and 3 great - great grandchildren with the 4th on the way. His niece Kathy and nephews Greg, Ricky and Ryan . Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Lynn Verwoert, his brother Robert Verwoert, and sister Dorothy Roberts. A celebration of Arnold’s life will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 4:00 PM at the Pentecostal Lighthouse Church in Oscoda, MI with Pastor Steve Goss officiating.
