Alvin A. Alexander

Age 87, a 45 year resident of Oscoda, MI died on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in Tawas City, MI. He was born on March 14, 1931 in Holly, MI to the late Joseph and Frances Alexander (nee McKeachie). Al earned his high school diploma and later joined the United States Marine Corps. He worked for several years for AuSable Township as the water maintenance man. Al was a firefighter for 35 years for both the Holly and Oscoda Fire Departments. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons, fixing bicycles and playing fast pitch softball. Al especially loved spending time with his friends and family. He was a member of the Oscoda American Legion Post 274 and VFW Post 3735. Al is survived by children, Douglas Alexander of Oscoda, MI, Alvin, Jr. (Janet) Alexander of Oscoda, MI, Craig (Trisha) of Swartz Creek, MI and Scott (Helen) Alexander of Wichita, KS; sister Doris (Joseph) Alexander of Wichita, KS; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife Janice Alexander on July 18, 2018; his daughter, Cheryl Alexander Carey; brothers, James, Donald, Russell and his sisters Donna and Gladys.
